Well, it's been a very long time since I have updated this. This semester was a busy one for me. It was my last semester in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics at TCU so I spent much of the semester studying, interning, and preparing to graduate. I graduated on May 9 (WooHoo!) and am looking for a job right now. I will take my Registered Dietitian Exam this summer so I can become a RD.
My dad left Texas in February for a job in Connecticutt. So far he is liking it up there, but he is home sick. I went up there at Easter to visit him. We spent 3 days in Connecticutt and a day in NYC (I have been there before). I was a lot of fun and a much needed vacation. We went to Mystic Pizza in Mystic, CT (home of the 1988 movie with Julia Roberts) and I have to say the pizza was very very good. We also went to Yale which was pretty but I was dissappointed with it because streets ran throughout the campus. It wasn't like I thought it would be. Plus it was raining and cold so I was soaked by the time we left. My dad grew up in NYC and still has relatives in the area so we spent Easter Eve having Easter dinner with his family. It was good to see them all again. I have only seen them once in my life and that was 9 years ago. We went to NYC on Easter which was packed with people. Thankfully since I have been there twice already I didn't want to go to too many of the touristy spots. The best part of the day was walking through Central Park because the weather was gorgeous and it was so peaceful. It is hard to believe a park like that is in the middle of a huge city. My dad said we walked by someone famous but I wasn't paying attention. He said I would have known the person, but she was gone when I turned around.
My dad was able to come home for my graduation which was nice, even though he has seen me graduate before from TCU. This ceremony was much shorter and nicer I think. The first time I graduated the ceremony was held at the Fort Worth Convention Center and everyone graduated at the same time so it lasted way to long and the speaker was boring. This time graduation was held in two ceremonies on campus and the Chancellor spoke and was much more interesting.
Besides school I have been dealing with some medical issues this semester. I was diagnosed with idopathic thrombycytopenic purpura which means I don't have enough platlet cells in my blood so my blood doesn't clot like it is supposed to. So now comes the fun part of trying to figure out the right treatment plan. I also have had terrible headaches since last fall and finally was able to get into a neurologist to check things out further and make sure nothing serious was wrong. He has me on a few different meds which have made all the difference in the world. It is so nice to be able to get through the week with only 1 or 2 headaches at most as opposed to having them constantly most days.
Ollie is a growing pup. He looks yorkie and acts poodle. He is a little over 7 months right now and is still tiny. He thinks he is a big dog though until he hears another dog bark or a loud sound. Fungus is tolerating him and enjoys stealing his food. They haven't killed eachother yet so I take that as a good sign. I think Fungus actually enjoys having him around when I am gone during the day. I got him a TCU jersey so he is now a Frog Dog and can show his TCU spirit this fall.
Well this is a lot of updating and I am sure I have left out some things, but I should be updating more now that school is out (though I am still studying for the RD exam).
